Apocalyptic980c created a tutorial outlining how to legally run homebrew and emulators on your nintendo wii. It requires an sd card
, and some special formatting / homebrew software to get everything up and running. You do not have to modify your wii console in any way, and emulators include Snes, Genesis, GameBoy Advance, Gameboy Colour, PC Engine and Nes and also a port of Doom.
For those that wish to have actual classic controllers that are wireless, you can create your own. A guy named Mark Feldman did a nice writeup on how to do it.

Any version of a game delivered on the Wii is a bonus just because it's on the Wii but the Wii version of Spider-Man 3 has a few extra! Not only does the game include two bonus villains, but it features web-swinging through your wii-mote! Check out what EBgames has to say below:
Wii version delivers the sensation of swinging through the city via the Wii Remote and Wii Nunchuk. It's like nothing you've ever experienced before on the Wii. Two bonus Marvel villains: Morbius and Shriek.
Don't forget to check the Spider-Man 3 official site as well.
The Wii News Channel, one of the most recent updates to Nintendo's groundbreaking next-gen system, was definitely designed with visual appeal at the forefront. The cool way words slide across the screen as you zoom in or out of a story, the impressive globe view as well as the impressive 'stacking' effect of stories by location definitely give reading news with your Wii a boost over the typical browser experience. A lot of thought was put into making the New Channel visually intuitive.
There is one problem with the News Channel, though. A video game system is defined by its interactivity yet the News Channel is a one way feed. The most interactivity a user gets is in seeing how fast you can spin the globe. In our world RSS aggregators and social news sites like Digg have changed the news reading habits of users. Customization and user input are key factors in creating a two-way dialog that has blurred the line between publishers and consumers. more...
The Tanooki reports that the famous Playstation title, Guitar Hero, is now coming to Wii! The announcement came during a conference call with Activision's CEO, Mike Griffith. Listen to the conference call starting around the 28 minute mark to hear for yourself.
Conan O'Brien recently defeated Serena Williams at Wii Sports Tennis. What does this mean for the legitimacy of Wii sports or any future sports game developed for the Wii? Does the Wii provide a level playing field for people of all skills to play against one another? Does real sports ability supplement Wii gaming skills or not?
This is hard to say, but as someone who has played Wii Sports I can say that my limited sports skills did seem quite amplified by the Wii's gyroscopic controllers. We've all seen one of our friends, too cool for school, refuse to get in a batter's stance and still perform well at Wii Baseball merely by snapping his wrist.
The thing is, the very first thing my father taught me as I swung a bat for the first time as a child was to snap my wrists as I connected with the ball. So how much of the mechanics of the swing is taken into consideration with games like Wii Baseball, or for that matter any of the games in Wii Sports?
There are definately ways to hack the motions while playing Wii Sports. Other future titles may reduce these 'hacks' with better software, but the Wii is primarily a 'social' gaming system. It is designed to get everyone in the game and for everyone to have fun.
I personally am undefeated at Wii Boxing amongst my friends. So I know that there is also a level of skill that is taken into consideration. Games don't end in a tie and they are usually not close either. There is definately still a place for skill in the Wii system. How it is taken advantage of in future titles will spell the ultimate success of the Wii as a gaming and entertainment system.
On the virtual console Mario Kart 64 if you play with 3 players on the Moo Moo Farm the game runs at super speed! Check out the video:
VG Charts reports that worldwide 4.02 million Wiis have been sold worldwide. The breakdown lists 1.45 million were sole in Japan and 1.53 million sold in America.
The coolest fact about these numbers? That's nearly half of the XBox 360's install base of 8.66 million. After only a few months Nintendo has nearly caught up with Microsoft! The PS3 on the other hand has not fared as well with only 1.63 million sold.
This is why you can walk into any popular home electronics store and see a pile of PS3s sitting on the floor yet the only Wii you'll find is the one in the display case.
I've been working on the php and design of this site for several months now and it's finally paid off! This is Wii The People 1.0. Yes, you may ask why it took so long but it's because I didn't want to go with pre-existing blog software and opted to build my own. The one problem? I didn't know any php.
I've been working for several years as a programmer building Asp.Net and VB.Net applications so I knew I could learn php quickly. So I set out reading as much as I could on the subject and starting putting together some scripts. Now I have an entire site up. It's very basic right now but I'll be adding more features as time goes on. Plus now that I have a php driven blog it will be much easier for me to update the site with content. So expect more Wii news from Wii The People!
